Carbon Dioxide plays an essential role in the process of photosynthesis. Atmospheric levels tend to be around 400 PPM, but plants can utilise CO2 at much higher concentrations. It's not uncommon for professional growers to artificially increase CO2 levels to between 1000 and 1200 PPM.
Higher concentrations of CO2 provide more of the 'fuel' for photosynthesising, which massively speeds up growth rates. When done correctly, adding CO2 can increase the size of yields by 20% or more.
Once you've mastered everything else, and your grow room is running sweetly, then CO2 can help you to push things to the next level. High-tech set ups are for serious growers and will require a bit of technical knowhow to get up and running, but well worth the effort.
If you want to dip your toe in the water without committing too much time and effort, take a look at TNB's 'The Enhancer' CO2 Dispersal Canisters. They are a quick and easy way to increase CO2 levels organically — just add water, give the bottle a shake once per day and it will naturally release CO2 into the grow space.
