Professional-Grade Soil Moisture Readings, Made Easy

Watering by eye?

The Blumat Digital Pro Plus makes it easier to know exactly when your soil or compost needs water.

Designed for gardeners who want more control, this precision tool measures root zone moisture in millibars, helping to avoid over or under-watering and maintain a healthier growing environment.

They're easy to use and perfect for either indoor OR outdoor growing spaces

Key Benefits

  • Accurate Moisture Monitoring – Displays soil tension in millibars (mbar) for precise control
  • Compatible with All Media – Suitable for compost, coco, living soil, and raised beds
  • Clear Digital Display – Simple, reliable readout without disturbing your plants
  • Ideal for Biological Growing – Supports consistent conditions without overwatering
  • Trusted Build Quality – Made in Austria using long-lasting, professional-grade materials

How It Works

The Digital Pro Plus measures how much effort plants need to draw water from the root zone – known as soil tension. Lower values (0–120 mbar) show well-hydrated conditions, while higher readings (200+ mbar) mean the soil is drying out. The result: a clearer picture of what’s happening below the surface.

What You Get

  • 1 x Blumat Digital Pro Plus Sensor (pre-assembled)
  • 1 x Protective Cap
  • 1 x Instruction Manual

How to Use

  1. Soak the Sensor
Before use, submerge the ceramic tip in water for 30 minutes to activate it and remove air bubbles.
  2. Insert at Root Depth
Place into your growing media at the active root zone – deeper for large pots or raised beds.
  3. Allow to Stabilise
Wait 45–60 minutes after placing for the reading to stabilise.
  4. Read the Display
Press the button to view the current soil tension in mbar.
  5. What the Numbers Mean:
    • 0–120 mbar: Moist soil
    • 120–200 mbar: Optimum range
    • 200–300 mbar: Drying – time to water
    • 300+ mbar: Too dry
  6. Ongoing Use
You can leave the sensor in place or move it between areas or containers as needed.

Tip: For best results in living soils or organic composts, aim to keep readings in the 100–200 mbar range to encourage healthy biological activity and plant growth.

Ideal For

  • Growers using biological or peat-free composts
  • Gardeners who want to fine-tune their watering
