Targeted, Power-Free Feeding for Grow Bags
Please note: This item is purchased to order, so extended lead times may apply.
The AutoPot Tray2Grow Capillary Spikes are designed for growers using the Tray2Grow system with grow bags or planters that aren’t suited to traditional bottom-feeding.
Instead of relying on capillary matting, these spikes pierce the base of a grow bag or fabric planter, allowing water and nutrient solution to be delivered directly into the substrate from below.
The result is controlled, even moisture delivery with no pumps, no timers, and no electricity — just reliable, gravity-fed irrigation where plants need it most.
-
Direct substrate feeding; delivers water and nutrients straight into the root zone
-
Ideal for fabric grow bags; perfect where capillary matting isn’t suitable
-
Power-free operation; works with gravity-fed AutoPot systems
-
Even moisture distribution; reduces dry patches and overwatering
-
Simple installation; fits directly into the Tray2Grow tray
How the Tray2Grow Capillary Spikes Work
When installed into the Tray2Grow tray, the capillary spikes sit directly beneath your grow bag or planter.
As the AQUAvalve allows water into the tray, moisture is drawn up through the spikes and into the substrate, feeding the root zone evenly from below.
This method is particularly effective for fabric grow bags, framed planters, or heavier growing media where standard bottom perforations are limited or inconsistent.
When to Use Capillary Spikes
Capillary spikes are best used when running grow bags or large planters where matting isn’t practical. For propagation, seedlings, or smaller pots, you can switch back to capillary matting for broader surface feeding, giving you maximum flexibility from the same Tray2Grow system.
Growell Tip: Use capillary spikes for established plants in grow bags, then swap to capillary matting when running seed trays or early-stage plants. One system, multiple feeding styles.
