was wondering if it possible to run a wilma 8 on a constant drip feed rather than flooded times? thanks Magoo

GROWELL RESPONSE
If you were using clay pebbles, you could run the system constantly when the lights are on, but we would strongly recommend using a mechanical timer every other 15 minutes with clay pebbles. We would not recommend this if using other media, or feeding when the lights are off.

I've just switched from a 8 pot wilma to a 4 big pot system. Everything about the grow was so much better including a yield that was up 50% due to the big pot system.

Ive been using Wilmas for years. Started off with a 4 pot and now using the 9 pot systems and they are brilliant. I think the man who had a problem with his yield was not using enough light. The 10 pot one is very long and narrow so i would use 2 lights for that.

not enough space for decent growth

i had a 10 pot with 6.5litre pots. good points rapid growth from cuttings to 3weeks old on vegging cycle big enough to turn cycle onto 12 hr. bad points from then on if you haven't pruned them a lot anything over 18 inches tall and 3 inches wide is no good as the middle gets no light at all meaning no flowers on at least 50% of your plants. now using 4 pots in same sized area and getting at least 4 times more at the end result. personally i found them hard to use as the bottom tray is hardly at all accesible with the pots on the top. as the saying goes sometimes less is more .p.s and the bigger the systems you get the worse it gets tried a 20 potter once and it was even worse, might be better now with the bigger pots but for anyone who expects to get anything big on these think again????

GROWELL REPLY: Many customers have reported to us that careful training of your plants out from the centre of the system using crop support netting and canes etc allow you to get fantastic yields using this system. Other have also tried not using the full number of pots on the top tray with a lot of success. Don't give up on your Wilma's - a lot of people do very well with these systems!

Questions and Answers (9)

does these systems use a filter and does it come with
These is a sponge filter that is supplied with the Wilma, it attaches to the inlet of the pump. I would advise you also use ATA Clean with a Wilma system to help keep the drip lines clear of salt buildup.

I have a small ebb and flood system and now interested in expanding my systems. This is mostly for vegetables grown in a 8 x 10 greenhouse. Vegatables would include tomatoes, courgettes, cucumber and beans. Could these be grown together in a Wilma 8-10 pot system ? What medium is best for this type of plant. I have been using Aqua feed on the Ebb and Flow system and would prefer to keep to this. Does the Wilma system come with good growing instructions?
there shouldn’t be a problem growing these crops in a Wilma system. If you wish to continue using the Aqua nutrients, I would advise using either Cellmax cubes, or clay pebbles as your growing media. The Wilma systems are provided with full instructions.

What timer would you recommend for regulating feeding times?
I would use the Grasslin Mechanical timer to automate feeding with the Wilma systems.
