Excellent product combining the ease of growing in pots with the benefits of hydro growing Written by DB \| 25 Oct 2011
This product holds water very well and at the same time it allows air to get to the roots which boosts the growth of the whole plant. It requires a little more monitoring so as not to allow the media to dry out but with a bit of practice you can get your watering perfected, knowing that the roots can breathe at the same time. It is almost impossible to over-water with this media and an added benefit is that if you get any adverse effects from nutrients or other additives, they can be easily and quickly flushed out with pure water. The cleanliness of these rockwool cubes, as opposed to soil is also an extra benefit which helps in any grow environment.

can you use these in active hydroponics, such as DWC?

Some people do use a blend of pebbles and coco, but what you need to be aware of is that the cellmax retains more water than the pebbles, and is perhaps suited to flood and drain or hydro dripper system rather than a DWC system.
