Choosing Your Fan

  • Use one fan to draw air out of your grow room
  • Use air vents or a second, smaller RVK extractor fan to draw air in

Please see ‘The Tech’ to work out which size fans you need.

How to Use

Connect a Power Lead to the Fan

The fan comes with an IEC connection, you will need to use a power cable to connect it to power. Buy 5m IEC plug & Lead separately here.

Identify the Direction of Air Flow

Air needs to travel out of your growing area for extraction, or into your growing area for intake. There’s an arrow on the fan’s case to show you which way the air travels.

Connecting up the Equipment

Attach a suitable length of ducting to the exhaust side of the fan, using a duct clip and then feed the ducting through the duct port in your tent, or to the area you wish to vent to.

Attach the other end of the fan to your filter using a fast clamp or small piece of ducting and a duct clip.

Hanging the Extraction System

It can be difficult getting the system into position on your own, but not impossible – we recommend using rope ratchets.

Questions & Answers

Have a Question?

Ask a Question
  • could you tell me what wattage the 6 inch RVK 150 LI extractor fan is thanks

    The RVK150L1 is rated @ 115 Watts.

  • I have a 17m3 grow room with two 600 watt lights, what sort of exchange am I looking for... is a 6"rvk150a1 420m3 used with a carbon filter as my out let and a 160mm acoustic 390m3 used as my inlet enough?? I have had heat problems this summer!

These fans should be fine for running 2 x 600W lights, In summer, we would advise running air cooled lights during summer to help woth heat problems.

  • I realise it is an awkward factor to accurately convey, but roughly how loud are your extractor fans? For example is the RVK 100 going to be much louder than an average desktop PC? Thanks.

The LTI Systemair RVK extractor fans are very quiet for the amount of air that they move. The RVK100 would be a bit noisier than the fan in a desktop PC, if they are used in conjunction with acoustic ducting, the noise is further reduced. We also offer silencers for larger RVK fans.

  • Can I use a cool tube and filter using only one extractor fan?

You can use 1 cool tube in conjunction with a filter. You would need to connect the filter to the fan, & the cooltube last. It is worth noting that you would need to clean the inside of the cooltube every couple of weeks, as particles of carbon will be drawn through the fan from the filter over time.

  • when im wiring my fan ,i have got three wires but only 2 connections on my fan which are live and neutral where do i put the earth wire ? the fan is a rvk125e2-a1

Hi, you would only need to use the live & neutral wires with this fan, it is best to trim the earth wire.

  • If i only have an input and output hole of 125mm can i use a larger say a 150mm or 200mm fan to increase the volume of air being sucked in/out through that hole or am i stuck with a 125mm fan and filter because of the surface area of the input and output holes?

As a general rule, you would want a more powerful output fan than the intake. You could use a larger extractor fan with this setup, & use a reducer to take the output down to a 125mm size.

  • What is the best way to hang or support the extractor fan in a budbox tent?

The easiest way to attach these is by attaching a loop of heavy duty chain to the mounting bracket. There are instructions on both the NFT expert kit page, & the Budbox Basic Kit page on the site.
