Eco-Lights - Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFL)

SKU# G288

Eco-Lights are market leading high powered compact fluorescent grow lamps (CFL) that can be used as either your primary grow light or as a supplementary light to your main grow light. They are available in both blue and red spectrums for vegetative and flowering growth respectively. They are not as productive as high intensity lights but are cheaper to buy and cheaper to run. No separate ballast is required for these lights, they simply screw into a standard E40 fitting (normal grow light lampholder) and run directly through a mains plug.

Overview
As useful additions, we offer a standard Eco-Light Lead and Lampholder (an E40 lampholder attached to a mains cord - no reflector) and the Eco-Light Reflector (a version of our Hobby Reflector that includes a mains lead and E40 lampholder). If you simply want to use CFL lamps as a supplementary light source, then the CFL Lead & Lampholder is a good choice, whilst either our CFL Hobby Reflector or Sun Mate Grow CFL Reflector are better options if these lamps are to be used as the primary light source. Complete kits featuring these extra items are available - click the appropriate link on the right hand side of this page for more info on each.

Bought two of these for my tomato seedlings. They have grow VERY fast in just 2 weeks - and the bulbs don't get hot at all. 2 inches from the plants is just fine.

May need stronger bulbs as the plants get older, or additional lighting.

Budget reflector is flimsy but very good!!

With the reflector cost £38 ish. Upgraded from normal CFLs with total about 70W (CFL).

Once I got a good feel for distance from the plant, for me about 6 inches, the plants rocketed up in growth. After 5 weeks sinces seed and with this bulb and nutrients, an inch a day growth is comfortable,

Very happy with this and will buy the red bulb for flowering.

As a first time grower, some things can be a bit expensive when your growing from scratch and i chose CFL's as an alternative to the usual light sources available. These have been a god send for me and work brilliantly, they don't use much current that you would notice, they hardly give off any heat so your plants wont burn and they also can be kept pretty close to the tops as well. I will be using a bigger set up on my next grow as this one went so well. Well chuffed!

What is the best distance for cfl lights to be hung above plants?
For cuttings & seedlings, we'd recommend having your CFL 80cm away from the top of the propagator, for larger plants, the CFL should be 60cm away.

can i grow from seed and keep 1 mother under 1 blue spectrum light , and will the mother stay healthy ?
The blue Eco-Lights are good for keeping mother plants, some people do their whole veg stage with these & switch to HPS bulbs for flowering.
