During the 6 months prior to his fights, the supremely confident 30-year old only consumes organic food sourced and selected by nutritionist, conditioner, masseur and “Team Hayemaker” member Ruben Tabares. The fruit and vegetables on Haye’s shopping list – known to include unique items like blue cabbage and yellow beetroot – are all purchased from a local organic market in Covent Garden, near to the team’s UK base at Park Plaza Hotel.

Several factors convinced the British boxer that an organic eating regime was worth pursuing and capable of providing competitive advantage.

First of all, it allows him to steer clear of food produced using pesticides. A 100% natural approach actively helps Haye build strength and health attributes – which the team insists he’s continuously improved since changing his lifestyle three years ago.

Haye also prefers organic produce because of the exceptional quality and high mineral content available. As a consequence, everything that he chooses to eat provides real nutritional value and avoids “wasting space”. For example, three or four organic carrots typically hold the same amount of zinc as around twelve standard variants.

Emphasizing the commitment to British organics, Haye and co. are now shipping over his food to Germany as they go through final preparations for the fight in Hamburg. This decision was more than justified when the country recently suffered an outbreak of a threatening stomach bug.

To maintain a purely organic diet when the food is not grown at home certainly can drain the bank balance, costing Haye about £2,000 a week. However, the boxer recognises the importance of eating smart and eating well, with the results so far speaking for themselves. Will you be next to try for success through organics?
