Who cares about roots? You should! They are quite possibly the most important part of your plant and also one of the most delicate and easily damaged. Look after your roots and your plants will thrive and we all know what that means – MORE YIELD!

A healthy root zone is an immensely important factor for successful growing and should get special attention throughout your growing cycle. Healthy white roots and a large root mass are what you are after – big healthy roots equal big healthy plants and we all know what that means… MORE YIELD!

There are a quite a few root boosters available and none of them are quite the same. There are root node stimulators like Rhizotonic and Root Juice, Silicon for building stronger cell walls and many more root related products. All these products are very popular, established products from around the world and are brought together in our catalogue to give you as much choice as possible.

Some useful root related hardware like air pumps are also included in the root related products below to complement the list of additives and boosters.

Nutrient Heaters

The ideal nutrient solution temperature in your hydroponic system is about 20C. When the lights are on and the room temperature is high, keeping the solution up to 20C is not a problem. When the lights are off, especially in colder months, heaters will maintain optimum temperature of the solution and the root zone for better results.

Above 21C, the warmer the water gets the less oxygen it can carry. Try and keep solutions hovering around 20/21C.

Air Pumps with airline and airstones

These are very useful, not only for keeping maximum O2 (atmospheric oxygen) in your nutrient solution, but also helps keep the nutrients mixed and solution moving in the tank helping to reduce the risk of root pathogens, diseases and bugs which all like still conditions. Adding air to the water will also help buffer the pH a little, although still expect it to fluctuate from day to day, it usually goes up, don’t be tempted to adjust the ph every day as this adds too much acid to the solution effecting the uptake of nutrients. Adjust ph of nutrient solutions every 3 to 4 days.

Clonex

This is a purple coloured rooting gel used for dipping cuttings into prior to rooting. We only sell one rooting compound and that’s Clonex. It’s the only serious choice at the moment, although we are on the look out to increase our range soon. Available in 50ml and 250ml. Once opened use within 3 months, store at moderate temperatures. A 50 ml tub should be enough to dip at least a 100 cuttings. Clonex is a reliable way of giving your new roots the best possible start and we recommend that it is used every time you take cuttings.

Bio-Bizz Root Juice

100% organic, Root Juice is designed to stimulate the biological activity around the root zone leading to explosive root production. Gives noticeably enhanced vegetative stage if used regularly. Very popular product, comes highly recommended. Suitable for soil, hydro or coco.

Rhizotonic

Another great and very popular product from Canna in Holland. A natural product made from the extract of vegetables. Helps stimulate the root nodes that are constantly being produced from the point of initial root production in the propagator onwards into flowering. Very popular for rooting cuttings into or spraying onto cutting while rooting and after. Lots of natural vitamin complexes for stress relief too. Suitable for soil, hydro or coco.

SuperThrive

We have been supplying this product for 10 years, and it’s always been a top seller and most peoples choice as a stress reliever when transplanting or growing under very demanding conditions. When used regularly in the vegetative stage it does help keep the plant lush, healthy and stress free. It can help you stay out of trouble and also help revive damaged or unhealthy plants. Contains lots of natural hormones and vitamins. Suitable for soil, hydro or coco.

Vita Link Bio-Plus

This can be used in your hydro system or in pots. Containing natural plant hormones, vitamins and co-factors, these help build good root zones and relieve transplant and other stress. It also contains natural beneficial bacteria and fungi to help protect the root zone from infection or disease. It works well as a general booster to use during the rooting/vegetative/leaf stages of growth. In flowering switch to a more flowering orientated booster/stimulant to use with your feed like B’Cuzz Bloom Stimulant or similar. Suitable for soil, hydro or coco.

Vita Link Bio-Pac

This bio stimulant activates and accelerates the growth process. It is an all encompassing bio additive pack. It contains, humates, kelp, amino acids, carbohydrates, essential B vitamins, vitamins K as well as Nitrogen fixing, phosphorus solubilising and growth promoting bacteria. Add to your solutions or sprinkle this powder over the top of the root zone. Highly recommended. Suitable for soil, hydro or coco.

Trichoderma

Comes as a small tub of power for mixing with water and pouring through the root zone once soon after rooting. This single dose will introduce a beneficial mould bacteria to the root zone. This mould bacteria not only stimulates good root growth but also prevents any other bacteria or infections like pythium getting into the root zone. Fantastic stuff. Suitable for soil, hydro or coco.

Cannazym

Contains natural enzymes, vitamins and extracts of desert plants specifically formulated to stimulate the formation of new roots for maximum uptake of nutrients, while also cleaning up the roots and breaking down old material. Use regularly during vegetative and flowering stages. Suitable for soil, hydro or coco.

Silicon

Silicon gives rigidity to molecular structure, this basically strengthens the plants cell walls and helps prevent infection and disease, including rot. It also has other benefits. Silicon does increase pH. Suitable for soil, hydro or coco.

Guardian Angel

Guardian Angel

This mix of natural products including water soluble organic Azote(Az) helps protect the roots from bacterial and fungal infection, pythium and root rot. It is non-toxic, does not enter the plant and is safe to use at any time in vegetative or flowering stages. Good to use in the summer to protect your roots in the warmer conditions when root problems can arise. Suitable for soil, hydro or coco.

Oxy-Plus (H2O2)

For increasing the oxygen content of hydroponic nutrient solutions. Don’t use Oxyplus with organic or biological feeds and additives. Oxyplus can also be used to help root cuttings and for cleanup of systems at a stronger dilution rate.

Oxyplus test strips are also available to test the amount of peroxide oxygen in your nutrient solution, these are 40pence each and useful for checking on the amount your using. These test strips do not measure atmospheric Oxygen (O2 present in the water or bubbled in to the water via airstones etc.).
