Like hydroponics, ‘organic’ gardening has gradually become an increasingly popular way of growing indoors under lights. It’s cost effective, the produce is good quality and the absence of any nasty rockwool or pH adjustment makes for an easy life and environmentally clean conscience – growing in pots is a nice flexible way to grow too.

As our most popular range of organic media and feeds this month we are focusing on Bio-Bizz and their products. Like all like certified organic products, this range of feeds and additives contain only natural ingredients prepared and produced within recognised organic production methods guidelines.
- Bio-Bizz Grow and Bloom Nutrients
The Bio-Bizz organic range from Holland has become very popular over recent years partly because it is a complete package of products that produces consistently good results. It is a complete suite of growing products ranging right through from the growing media (Bio-Bizz Light-Mix and Bio-Bizz All-Mix complete soil mixtures as well as Pre-Mix and Worm Castings for mixing your own) to Grow and Bloom Feeds, Alg-A-Mic vitality booster, TopMax Bloom Stimulant, Root Juice root zone booster and Fish Mix (very smelly, but very good!). These products are easy to use, give excellent results and are very well priced – you’d be hard pushed to find any better organic product that works as well and gives such fine results.
As far as ‘organic’ accordance, registration and certification goes, there are many different National, International and European recognised bodies out there all following similar but slightly different guidelines for certification. It makes it very hard for companies to get certified by all and very confusing for the customer. If you plan on selling your produce, it’s worth knowing that many of the large superstores require their organic fruit and vegetable suppliers to conform to different certification organization registration.
Bio-Bizz has obviously put a lot of time and effort in to not only providing an excellent top grade organic nutrient range, but has also tried hard to meet as many organic certification criteria around the world and in Europe as possible, giving this product some strong ‘organic’ credentials including:

- Is OMRI listed.(Organic Material Review Institute). OMRI certification is recognised worldwide

The Products
Bio-Bizz Light-Mix
This organic compost is ready mixed and prepared in the bag, ready to use straight in the pot. This mix is only lightly fertilized and both Bio-Bizz Grow and Alg-A-Mic need to be used. This mix is fantastic for aggressive growth of young plants. It is also ideal for rooting cuttings, starting seeds and even growing larger plants in if you prefer more control over the feeding regime.
Bio-Bizz All-Mix
This organic compost mix is ready mixed and prepared in the bag, ready to use straight in the pot or as a grow bag on the floor. This mix is more heavily fertilized than Light-Mix. This makes it ideal for potting-up your small plants into their final pot. This mix is perfectly balanced to give your plants aggressive growth through the main portion of their life. No nutrients will be needed for the first couple of weeks, just use water. After this initial period, your plant will have used much of the available nutrients from within the soil and you will need to start feeding with Grow or Bloom nutrientsat every other watering. Many people use All-Mix for their young plants as well as their bigger plants, which can work well in high light gardens.
- Bio Bizz All Mix and Light Mix Soil
Both Light-Mix and All-Mix are made from renewable sources of organic compost, worm castings and perlite to help with air content, drainage and structure. 5% Biological Pre-Mix is also included to get the biological action going. The perfect mix. An added benefit of using these growing media is that because we buy so much soil, it is comes direct from Bio-Bizz to us, and direct from us to you. The quick turn around and care taken in production, transport, storage and sale to the customer means that all the mixes come fresh, consistently high quality and bug free (often a major problem when buying cheaper compost from superstores or buying from specialist organic suppliers in this country).
Bio-Bizz Worm Castings
100% organic nitrogen rich media. Great when used to make your own soil mix and a key component of All-Mix and Light-Mix.
Bio-Bizz Pre-Mix
100% organic goodies that form a part of All-Mix but are also used when creating your own soil mix or recharging old soil.
Bio-Bizz Grow Nutrient
100% natural and organic Nitrogen rich feed for the leaf growth stage. This is a liquid concentrate feed which is added to water and can be fed to the plants immediately after mixing. No pH adjustment is necessary. This feed has a very nice consistency and unlike some organic feeds doesn’t smell too bad either. This is a really user friendly, well balanced feed that gives colour, size and shape of leaf as well as good growth rates and plant profile in the high light indoor situation. Contains essential amino acids and over 70 trace elements.
Bio-Bizz Bloom Nutrient
100% natural and organic Phosphorus and Potassium rich feed ideal for the fruiting and flowering stages of plant development. Like the Grow version, this is a nice, stable, usable liquid feed. No pH adjustment necessary. Gives good flower and fruit development on any species or varieties of plant with excellent smell, taste and flavour of end product. Contains essential amino acids and over 70 trace elements.
Bio-Bizz Alg-A-Mic
100% organic. This additive contains chelated micro nutrients, vitamins and other plant promoting ingredients. Works very well as a boost to the normal feed and is a proven vitality booster.
Bio-Bizz Fish Mix
Vegetative growth booster that is 100% natural and organic. It might smell like a fisherman’s armpit, but it is very good at improving microbial activity and helps accelerate growth. Popular with outdoor growers.
Root Juice
100% organic and another great product from Bio-Bizz to boost biological activity in the root zone. Gives explosive root production and improved nutrient uptake.
Bio-Bizz TopMax Bloom Stimulant
A natural, 100% organic very popular non-feed bloom booster that can be added throughout flowering for larger, better looking flowers/fruit and sweeter flavours.

A short note on Feeding and Feed charts
There are many guides and feed charts on the web and from manufactures, shops, chat rooms, forums etc. Plants will feed differently depending not only on the compost used, but also the environment, temperature, amount of light, etc. There will also be differences between species, varieties and even between different plants from the same seed stock, some plants feed heavily and grow quickly and other plants feed and grow more slowly under the same amount of light. At GroWell our feed charts and guides, like the manufactures own guides, are a place to start that will give good results in most situations and can be fine tuned depending on the colour, the look, and general growth patterns of the plant. GroWell charts are often slightly weaker or different than manufactures guidelines on the bottle, although either guide or anywhere between the two will work fine.
