Hands down the best reflector currently available, the mighty Adjust-a-Wing Avenger consists of a truly remarkable Vega/Miro aluminium material that proves to be no less than 98% reflective! In other words, only a tiny amount of light produced from the lamp is absorbed upon reflection – all the rest heads down and out towards your plants!
To fine-tune the focus of your light and facilitate really low hanging heights, the Adjust-a-Wing Avenger has been designed with a flexible set of wings and a unique lampholder that lets you alter the distance of the lamp from the reflector. These fantastic features are completely exclusive to the Adjust-a-Wing Avenger (and Adjust-a-Wing Enforcer) and really do grant you access to unparalleled levels of control, enabling quick and easy reactions to an ever changing grow room environment.
What’s more, the Adjust-a-Wing Avenger also comes supplied with a very handy Heat Shield Super Spreader. When attached below the lampholder, this fairly inconspicuous item works to actively improve the process of deflecting heat and distributing light. A worthwhile inclusion for sure!
Hopefully you can see that the benefits of using an Adjust-a-Wing Avenger overshadow those of all other comparative reflectors. In truth, nothing else comes remotely close to it!
Alongside the Adjust-a-Wing Avenger every system includes a top of the range dual spectrum lamp, suitable for both vegetative growth and flowering stages. By not having to change the bulb halfway through a crop (as you would with a Sodium and Metal Halide), attention can remain focused on other aspects of your grow safe in the knowledge that results won’t suffer.
If the Adjust-a-Wing Avenger looks like it’s your preferred choice of reflector, the other thing to consider concerns ballast options. What you decide to go for – magnetic or digital – depends on the budget available and whether you’re of the short-term or long-term view.
Our magnetic ballasts remain a safe bet after years of reliable service. These reassuringly won’t break the bank and include advantages such as quiet operation, cool running temperatures, good quality parts and models in the 250, 400 and 600 Watt categories. The costs of powering magnetic ballasts are comparatively high though and you also get less flexible control pitched against digital units, so they might be more suitable for growers with a short-term view (e.g. first time growers who want to ‘find their feet’ using basic equipment and then trade up to better products).
At the top of the pile sits the Exolux Dimmable ballast. This unit demonstrates the giant leap forward that has been made in this arena with digital technology, leading to improved energy efficiency, attractive cost savings, and reduced heat and noise production. Yet it is the element of advanced control where Exolux ballasts really stand to benefit you above magnetic alternatives, introducing an opportunity to manipulate light settings during different growth stages via a dimmer switch. Predictably there are higher prices associated with these products, but you certainly get your money’s worth! Eventually dimmable digital ballasts will find their way into every grow room; mark our words!
Adjust-a-Wing Avenger Lighting Systems have deservedly become some of the most loved and sought-after collections of products used by growers far and wide.
- How to use
-
The Adjust-a-Wing Avenger Reflector is sold flat pack and requires some basic assembly. Step-by-step manufacturer instructions are provided. It measures 55cm (length) x 75cm (width*) and works with all IEC connection ballasts.
Before hanging the reflector, screw the grow lamp into the lampholder and connect the reflector lead to the corresponding ballast lead.
We recommend suspending the Adjust-a-Wing Avenger from your ceiling or grow tent roof using Heavy Duty Rope Ratchets or Ezi-Roll Light Hangers - but chain will do a good enough job too. 'S' Hooks and Ceiling Hook Plates will also be needed.
Finally plug the ballast into the mains - always use a contactor if controlling your system with a timer.
The Adjust-a-Wing Avenger offers growers the unique ability to replicate seasonal light variations to completely maximise your plant performance. Adjust-a-Wing reflectors at their optimum will cover an area of 1.5m x 1.2m although even with areas smaller than this, the same principles can be applied. The key to maximising reflector performance is to always aim to keep this consistent 1.5m width of spread in your mind. Whatever height your reflector is above your plants, the reflector should be adjusted to maintain this same footprint.
In addition to the adjustable wings, the lampholder adjustment offered by the Adjust-a-Wing Avenger lets you completely manage the spread of light given by your lamp. When starting vegetative growth, the reflector should be adjusted to provide it's maximum downwards focus, and positioned high in the grow room to maintain the 1.5m spread. At this early growth setting of maximum focus, the lampholder will typically be positioned quite far away from the reflector to provide a consistent and even spread of light. You will be able to visibly see if there are any shadows in your spread by looking at the light distribution on your grow room floor. If there are any shadows, try adjusting the lampholder position to remove these inconsistencies.
As the plants become stronger and bigger, the reflector can be moved closer to the plants. As this happens, you will adjust the spread of your reflector gradually wider and wider as you get the light closer to the plants (maintaining the 1.5m spread). At each adjustment, you will also need to adjust the lampholder position to even the spread of light. Your eventual aim is to get the reflector very close to your plant canopy (without damaging the plants) so that you get maximum light penetration down through the plant to excite lower fruiting and flowering sites. Once these sites are activated, you will find that you have additional blooms and more fruit sets per plant. Ideally you want to maintain this maximum intensity of light getting through the plants for at least 1-2 weeks. During this stage, your lamps will be so close to the plant canopy that they will create a hot spot directly under the lamp. This would normally cause the plants directly underneath this hot spot to stretch towards the heat and give you an uneven canopy. The Adjust-a-Wing Avenger allows you to manage this inconsistency though. By adjusting the lampholder to position the lamp as close as possible to the reflector, you can artificially create a shadow (thanks to the heat shield) in the centre of your light spread - reducing light in this area slows the growth there and evens out the effect of stretching towards the heat. This gives you an even canopy for maximum productivity across your crop.
In the final stages of growth (once the deep fruiting sites have been activated and multiple fruits sets are forming) you need to create an artificial autumn for your plants by slowly moving the reflector away from the canopy again, narrowing the focus as the reflector rises and adjusting the lampholder to create an even spread once more.

Simple, elegant and effectiveWritten by TC |

Really impressed with this product, I simply cannot fault it.
Excellent and even variable light distribution and heat dissipation; even small factors such as enabling full utilisation of limited headroom due to its slim, open design are testament to the forethought that has gone into creating this product (bonus if you've allowed your plants to get too tall in a small space like i did!). The incorporated heat shield that simply slots into place is another stroke of genius; I've found myself able to get it closer to the tops of plants than with other models without heat spots. It's sleek and lightweight, without ever feeling flimsy or fragile.
The elegant simplicity and perfect functionality of this design is astounding. 'Nuff said. Was this review helpful to you?5 of 5 people found this review helpful. -
Superb product, very highly recomendedWritten by Markoid |

Ive been using one of these for two years now, so time for a quick review.
A bit of assembly is required, just a screwdriver, easy.
Clear instructions, very simple to do, remember to remove the blue fim covering the wings before use.!!!
The hardest bit, for me , was fitting the two cables that adjust the wings, best way is to fit one, then the other, once its hangin up, its a doddle.
the amount of adjustment you can make is vast, from a very narrow beam, to max width, of infinity.. a true fiddlers delight.
Visit the manufactors website for clear adjustment videos.
Ive now got only two positions i use, one tight for veg, the other, wide for flower, easy. Should mention, on a 600w, it covers an area of about, 1.2 by 2 meters, very evenly, with no hot spots, another point is, it runs very cool, most of the heat escapes from the open ends, nice. Very. bright, too.
All in all, a great shade, very robust, which im very pleased with, and hopefully will last for years to come.!!!
I have no hesitation at in reccomending these, and get a positive thumbs up, 9.9 out of 10.
